Wedding Timeline for Dallas Wedding Reception

Every wedding that we provide DJ & master of ceremonies for receives a custom timeline outlining their entire reception. Many people are surprised that we do this, but we're more than just a DJ. As your master of ceremonies, it is important to know what is happening and when it is happening. It is also crucial to make sure all your other vendors know when everything is happening too. That's why all of our clients get a timeline like the one below before their wedding. Clients are welcome to share it with other vendors as well as anyone else who may need to know the schedule. We also bring extra copies with us for all the vendors too.

Having a good flow to your reception is very important. If your guests are sitting around too long after dinner and get bored, they may leave. Or if too many things are crammed together, they may feel like it is rushed. That's where my 12 years of experience as a wedding DJ & master of ceremonies really helps. I coordinate with whoever is in charge at the venue or your caterer as well as your photographer and other vendors to make sure we're all on the same page. I also let them know at least a few minutes before I announce anything to make sure they are prepared.

So how is the timeline created? If you choose to have me as the DJ for your Dallas area wedding, we have a planning meeting where we create your timeline together. Then I type it up and send it to you for review before it is finalized.

Here is the final timeline from a wedding Discovery provided DJ & master of ceremonies services for. It took place in early 2012 at the Old Red Museum in Dallas.

Tower Club Wedding DJ & Lighting in Dallas by Discovery DJ & Lighting

We started by painting the Tower Club purple. Then Jim Weisz served as the DJ and Master of Ceremonies for Michael & Ashley's wedding reception. The result was a memorable evening for Michael & Ashley as they celebrated their wedding.

This was our second time to provide services at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas. It is a great venue with amazing views from the 48th floor--and it turned out they were having fireworks the same night as the wedding, which was a nice treat for the guests.

Michael & Ashley had every detail covered--including a late night snack of slider hamburgers & fries. It was a nice treat for everyone. After a lot of dancing, the snack came at the perfect time!

Special thanks to the staff at the Tower Club. They are extremely professional and very helpful, which we really appreciate. I would also like to thank Jessica of Rae Portraits. She is awesome to work with and takes amazing pictures! She was kind enough to supply me with some pictures from the wedding, which are posted below.

Stonebriar Country Club Lighting Frisco

We've been told countless times that our LED uplighting really made our clients' venue look truly amazing. This past weekend we provided DJ, master of ceremonies and amber uplighting at the Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco. The main color for the wedding was yellow, so the yellow lighting for the room was a perfect touch and turned out great. It's always interesting to look at before and after lighting pictures to see just how different a room can look with elegant and modern LED lighting. Check out the before and after pictures below to see for yourself!

Dallas DJ at Four Seasons Wedding Las Colinas Irving Texas

Jay and Maiko--seriously two of the kindest, most thoughtful couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The best example I can think of is the invitation I received in the mail. The invitation was for the wedding. In over 12 years of providing DJ and master of ceremonies for wedding receptions, I have never received an invitation to a client's wedding. So, I wasn't sure what to do with since of course I would be at the wedding!

I ended up emailing Jay & Maiko and let them know that if I they were sending an invitiation to include me in their meal count, I don't eat at weddings. They were so nice and said they would like to include me so I could take a break and eat something. Then, after the wedding, they also sent a card with a gift for our new baby that my wife had just a couple weeks before the wedding!

I truly appreciated all their thoughtfulness and really loved working with them on planning their wedding. We had a lot of fun in our meetings--especially the final planning meeting. At that meeting, we go over name pronunciations and these were among the hardest I had ever encountered! Jay even let me know how his name is often mispronounced and would understand if I had a hard time with it. I assured him I would get it right when I introduced them at their reception.

The entire week of the wedding, I practiced the introductions more than I normally do. I was practicing a couple times each day and could practically do the introductions in my sleep! When the big moment came, I'm proud to say I got every name right--all 20+ people I introduced! I make a point of pronouncing names correctly, and since this was by far my most challenging introductions, I was very happy with the result. Several of the members of the wedding party even thanked me for saying their name right!

After the introductions and dinner, we got right into the dancing. Jay & Maiko and their guests packed the dance floor for just about every song I played from the first to the last. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the guests, from the youngest to the oldest, out on the dance floor. It truly was a memorable night for everyone!

I was fortunate to work with a great team of vendors. It was my first time to work with Tamara at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas and she was absolutely amazing! In addition, Lyly from Lyly Photography was a pleasure to work with. Not only was she great to work with at the wedding, but she was so nice after the wedding to share some pictures with me (below), which I couldn't have been more impressed with!

Wedding Reception DJ at Dallas Petroleum Club by Discovery DJ & Lighting

Ryan & Heather's reception on October 8, 2011 took place at a great venue overlooking the city of Dallas--the Dallas Petroleum Club. While the room presented some challenges from a sound standpoint, it was such a cool venue and I was able to work through the challenges as far as power and sound went.

When I meet with a couple for the first time, I will usually ask if they like to dance and if they think they'll dance at their wedding. It really does help encourage guests to dance when the bride & groom dance. Well, Ryan & Heather did a great job with that, as they were out dancing almost the whole night! Not only were Ryan & Heather out there dancing, but most of their guests were too! The crowd was a lot of fun and danced to both new & old music to help celebrate Ryan & Heather's wedding.

I always enjoy working at new venues and with new vendors. I had never been to the Petroleum Club, so it was great to get to see it and work with the staff there (they were excellent to work with). In addition, I also worked with Christopher & Angela from Lucky Pro Photography. I truly believe having a good group of vendors who communicate well and work together can help make the wedding a success. Well, Christopher and Angela were awesome to work with! Not only that, they took some amazing pictures too! They were kind enough to share the pictures with me, so I will post them below. I hope to work with them again sometime soon!

Dallas, Grapevine, and Fort Worth Wedding DJ System

I'm often asked what our sound system looks like when it is all set up. We take great pride in setting up a neat and clean looking sound system. Whether we are providing a large sound system for a big wedding in Dallas or Grapevine, or a smaller DJ sound system for a wedding in Fort Worth or Colleyville, appearance is a top priority for us. Once the system is set up for optimal sound, we tape down all cords and have various things we do to make our system look very neat. This is just one small way we show how much the details matter to us for every wedding reception we provide DJ & master of ceremonies services for in the Dallas area.

Here are some pictures from some of our most recent wedding receptions:

Tower Club Dallas Wedding Reception & Lighting

This was our 2nd time to provide services at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas. It is a very nice venue that we really enjoy working at and the views are amazing!

I'll wait to do a full blog post talking about Michael & Ashley's wedding once we have better pictures from one of our favorite photographers to work with, Jessica of Rae Portraits. In the meantime, here are a couple pictures of the room, the cake and a dancing shot.

Dallas Wedding Monogram Ideas and Examples

We are often asked for ideas for what clients should use for their monogram. It can be anything--your names & date, initials & date, just names, a special saying....really, it's completely up to you!

If you decide to have us provide a custom monogram for your wedding, we will work with you to create a monogram that meets your taste and style. How the process works is we start with fonts. You give us some direction as to whether you'd prefer a script font or a more basic font. Then we'll send a few options over and keep giving options until we find one you like.

Once we've selected a font, you tell us what you'd like your monogram to include and we'll send over a few drafts. Again, we'll send to you for feedback and will continue to make modifications until you are happy with it.

After you have finalized your monogram design, it is sent to the company who produces our gobos for us. From there it takes 7-10 business days to get back your custom glass gobo which we we will use to display your monogram.

Here are some examples of monograms we have created for our Dallas wedding clients. (Please note that although some monograms may be different colors and have a white background, the actual monogram is displayed using a white light. You can see what the final product looks like after the final example below).
